Enteral nutrition (EN) is also known as tube feeding. It is nutrition provided through the gastrointestinal (GI) tract via a tube, catheter, or stoma that delivers nutrients distal to the oral cavity. EN is part of the nutrition support and an adjunctive management for patients with certain diseases. The provision of nutrition support must be a team effort. Healthcare providers in this team include doctors, dietitians, nurses and pharmacists. Community pharmacists should also see themselves as an important team member. Healthcare professionals should not underestimate the complexity of EN feeding and should be vigilant and work as a team in providing appropriate EN to a diverse patient population across various settings.
