Overview
Abnormal vaginal discharge is the most frequently encountered symptom in gynecology. This clinical
presentation is usually associated with vaginitis that occurs in bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and
vulvovaginal candidiasis. On the other hand, mucopurulent cervicitis is caused by common bacterial
pathogens, Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea. To accurately diagnose and effectively manage
vaginitis and cervicitis, it is important to differentiate the causes and identify accompanying signs and
symptoms of these conditions.
This e-learning module distinguishes the clinical features, diagnostic
methods, and treatment plans of different diseases manifesting with abnormal vaginal and cervical discharge,
including recurrent bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and vulvovaginal candidiasis.
