Overview
Child development is influenced not only by genetics but also by environmental exposures and social interactions as well. It is the role of the primary care physician to provide interventions and parenting guidance that enable children to reach their full potential.
A well-child visit is a regularly scheduled routine checkup, conducted by primary care physicians and other healthcare providers, to review and ensure healthy child development, growth and well-being. The main objectives of a well-child visit are health promotion, disease and risk prevention, detection of disease or problems, and provision of anticipatory guidance.
This e-learning module will guide participants in conducting a well-child visit in the primary care setting, including a discussion of age-specific priorities and common concerns, developmental milestones, screening tests, and health promotion interventions.
