Overview

NEW!

Hypertension (HTN) remains a challenging medical problem, affecting an estimated 1.13 billion individuals worldwide. HTN is the major cause of cardiovascular-related mortality worldwide; cardiovascular death accounts for 31% of global death every year. In Malaysia, HTN was the biggest contributor to the main cause of mortality and disability-adjusted life years in 2018. Alarmingly, many individuals are unaware that they have HTN, and most of those with HTN do not have their blood pressure under control. As a result, suboptimal control puts a tremendous burden on the health and welfare of individuals and the population. This online CPD video provides an update on the evidence for managing HTN, while simultaneously highlighting the role of single-pill fixed-dose combination to promote adherence to HTN treatment.
