Severe aplastic anaemia (SAA) occurs when the stem cells of the bone marrow are damaged, which impairs the production of new blood cells. Most commonly an immune-mediated disorder, SAA is characterized by peripheral pancytopenia and bone marrow hyperplasia, and can develop at any age. Left untreated, SAA can lead to complications such as arrhythmia and heart failure. This online CPD video provides healthcare professionals with the practical knowledge on how to manage patients with severe aplastic anaemia, and the current treatment approaches currently available.
