Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the third most common cardiovascular disease after myocardial infarction and stroke. The goal of this learning activity is to provide doctors with a comprehensive review on the role of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) in the management of VTE. Upon completing this module, participants will have a better understanding of the epidemiology and burden of VTE, risk assessment and prophylaxis, anticoagulant therapy for VTE and the efficacy and safety profile of NOACs in the acute and extended treatment of VTE.
