It is important for healthcare professionals to be aware and updated on liver diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is becoming increasingly common due to the increasing prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Pharmacists should be able to educate patients regarding proper follow up and health checks so that diagnosis can take place early. For patients who are already diagnosed with NAFLD, proper treatment of associated co-morbidities coupled with diet and exercise remain the mainstay of management.
