Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common diagnosis encountered in the primary care setting, affecting up to 1.03 billion individuals globally.1 Pharmacists are in the unique position to make individualized recommendations to patients, including lifestyle modification, pharmacological treatment for mild-to-moderate GERD, and referral to a physician for further assessment.2,3 This module aims to provide insights into the current approach to managing mild-to-moderate GERD, highlighting the role of sodium alginate as the cornerstone of GERD management in various patient populations.
