About this course

The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was first reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019 which slowly spread around the world and a COVID-19 global pandemic was subsequently declared. COVID-19 disease initially starts with infection and a pulmonary phase followed by a severe hyperinflammation phase, wherein secondary organ damage sets in. Cardiac injury in COVID-19 may be due to direct and indirect effects of the virus. This e-learning module summarizes the pathophysiology of COVID-19 infection and its cardiac manifestations. Vaccine-induced myocarditis and vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia is also discussed.
