About this course
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined as abnormalities in kidney structure and function that is present for more than 3 months. Progressive kidney injury causes increased mortality, hence maintaining healthy kidneys is of utmost importance. This can be achieved by avoiding acute kidney injury, and by identifying and controlling risk factors for renal failure. This e-learning module reviews the definition of CKD, its risk factors, its stages and complications per stage, and discusses options for renal replacement therapy.
