About this course
Nearly 1 billion people worldwide are affected by a mental health condition and healthcare systems are
struggling to meet the needs and expectations of everyone affected by this mental health crisis. Primary care
physicians are well-placed to assess patients’ vulnerability, assess the impact of poverty and disadvantage, and
their association with mental and psychological conditions. This e-learning module, which is adapted from the
first webinar of the Primary Care Asia webinar series, provides a brief overview of the global burden of mental
health conditions and a systematic approach to mental health management in the primary care setting particularly
during the COVID-19 pandemic.
