Overview
NEW!
Viruses are among the most common causes of human illnesses. Even so, the development of antiviral drugs to treat or prevent viral infections has historically lagged behind the development of drugs against other microbial agents. In fact, it has been almost 20 years since the introduction of a new class of antiviral drug for influenza, also known as the flu. In this module, we will take a look at the aetiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology and symptomatology of influenza, as well as explore the current recommendations for antiviral treatment.
