Overview

About this course

The goal of this learning activity is to provide doctors with an overview of hypertension as a precursor to major cardiovascular events such as heart failure, and the importance of selective β1-adrenergic antagonists as a pharmacological approach to hypertension management.

Upon completing this module, participants will have a better understanding of the following aspects:
  • Fundamentals of sympathetic overactivity in hypertension and its relationship with cardiovascular disease
  • Importance of lowering blood pressure and managing hypertension with a pharmacological approach
  • Clinical efficacy of a selective β1-adrenergic antagonist in patients with hypertension or heart failure
